Since opening in 2004, the rescue has grown in size and now rehomes around 3,000 animals per year. Many Tears rescues primarily ex-breeding dogs but also takes in a lot of animals from the public who are no longer wanted, dogs from the pounds and a small number from rescues abroad if we have the space to help.
All animals that come to Many Tears are assessed, neutered and given any veterinary treatment they need and are cared for by dedicated staff before being responsibly rehomed. There is an onsite veterinary surgery where a small vet team dedicates their time to neutering the dogs and dealing with all manner of medical problems from ear infections and parasites, to life saving emergency surgeries. Sometimes animals arrive needing more specialist help such as ophthalmic, cardiologist and orthopaedic surgery and these animals are referred to specialist vets.
Many Tears runs educational groups, classes and friendship groups for adults and children within the local community and these are often based around caring for the horses, grooming, training and sometimes just spending time around the horses and dogs and have become an integral part of how Many Tears engages with the local community.
We also welcome many local and national groups and services who work with adults and young people of all abilities and ages, whose service users benefit greatly from volunteering at Many Tears and spending time with the animals.
A quote from the charity - "We are absolutely delighted to have won the vote to become the Wilsons to the Rescue charity this year. As a busy rescue, we have so many dogs looking for homes and many of them arrive with us in poor condition and would benefit hugely from Wilsons great quality food. We are very grateful to all those who voted for us and in doing so are giving our dogs an even better start in finding their new forever homes. Thank you!"
As part of our Wilsons to the Rescues campaign and pledge to help feed dogs in rescue centres right across the UK, we will be donating a percentage of our May-July 2022 sales to Many Tears. Learn more about our campaign.
