Press Paws with Slower Walks

Press Paws with Slower Walks

Did you know, slow walks aren’t lazy. They’re elite.

Slowing your walks down means more time for sniffing - and sniffing is how dogs think, decompress, and make sense of the world. Ten un-rushed minutes can do more than a power march ever could.

So if your walk looks more like stop–sniff–pause–sniff… Congrats! You’re doing it right.

Let them lead. Let them sniff. Let the walk actually work.

Why take slow walks?

If you’re joining us by Pressing Paws this Winter, you’re going to find huge benefits with our tips this week.  Slowing down your walks not only helps your dog relax, but it is great for your wellbeing too.

Let them sniff

10 minutes of sniffing can be more mentally tiring and satisfying than a walk.

It helps regulate stress - dogs sniff when they are unsure or overwhelmed, therefore it helps lower anxiety and supports emotional balance.

Build Emotional Wellness

Walks are a dog’s way of exploring their environment, building confidence, and feeling secure in their routine. When dogs are rushed they miss out on this processing time.

The same goes for us humans! Rushing around can cause our nervous system to react

Challenge yourself

On your next walk, take it slow and notice how you feel when you return home.

Does your mind feel lighter?

Can you feel the difference in your body?

You’ll notice the difference in your pup too!
