Dog-friendly walks to enjoy: Bailey visits Harlaw Reservoir, the Pentlands
Share
In celebration of January being National Walking Month, we have teamed up with our Wilsons ambassadors to give you walkspiration right across the UK! Bailey and Claire have given us the details of their favourite Scottish walk in their local area. Why not try it if you're nearby?...
So walk wise I think one of our favourites has to be the Pentlands, in particular Harlaw Reservoir is a favourite of Bailey’s!
What is available on the route? The walk itself is lovely and can be as big or small as you like with lots of different paths, you can do a small loop around the reservoir of head of a little bit further and head up into the hills if you fancy doing a bigger walk, there is even spots to go camping and you can paddle board on the reservoir
Why is this your favourite local walk? We love this walk because it’s a stone throw away the city centre of Edinburgh, there’s plenty of space so perfect for the dogs to be off lead! There’s a mix of forest areas, paths, fields and of course the reservoir, ideal of your dog loves to swim! This walk quickly became our favourite when we visited last winter during the snow and it looked like we had walked into Narnia, it was absolutely magically! The Pentlands itself is also fantastic for any hillwalker who is training there pup up to capture a few Munros!
Facilities: there is a small car park but you’re always best to head out early as it does get quite busy!
