Dog-friendly walks to enjoy: Penny & Freyja at Haw Park Wood, Wakefield

For National Walking Month we are encouraging you and your pack to head out on a new walk, taking inspiration from our Brand Ambassadors, or to take a trip to your favourite local route to enjoy some fresh air. Penny & Freyja the Bernese Mountain Dog's have given details of one of their favourite dog-friendly UK walks at Haw Park Wood in Wakefield...

What is available on the route? Haw park features 73 hectares of beautiful ancient woodland and was recently awarded the Green Flag Award in 2018. The wood has easily accessible paths with numerous routes to follow and is the perfect place to take the dogs. Additionally, the wood is located right next to

Anglers Country Park which means you can also enjoy lakeside walks from the same location.

Why is this your favourite local walk? Haw Park is our favourite walk as not only is the wood beautiful, but it feels very open and spacious even during busier periods. The girls can safely be off lead and explore at their leisure as well as being able to experience varied locations from the diverse route options. The girls enjoy exploring both along the designated paths as well as having a bit of a sniff off the beaten track. We have also spotted various picnic benches throughout the woods and we look forward to enjoying a picnic together in the warmer months to come.

Facilities:  Parking is available as well as a café and a children’s playground.

Location Postcode: Wakefield, WF4 2EB
