Raw Feeding Myth Busters

Raw Feeding Myth Busters

Been considering a raw diet, but have been put off by things you may have seen or read? Take a look at our myth busters below and feel more confident giving raw a try...

"Raw feeding is messy"

It doesn't have to be messy at all!

With our flat raw frozen trays, it's easy to open, portion and reseal so you can pop back in the fridge for the next mealtime.

"You need to buy separate vitamins and supplements"

This is completely down to personal preference - we have two different ranges of raw frozen to choose from; our DIY Core 80|10|10 range where you can add your own supplements, or our Premium Complete range which includes everything your dog needs in one bowl.

So if you're looking for something quick and easy to feed, which has all the vitamins and minerals your dog needs, our Premium Complete range is perfect for you.

"There's too much to clean"

Handling raw frozen is the same as handling any raw meat intended for humans - you'll need to make sure that you clean all bowls and utensils thoroughly after they've been used.

However, if you pop them in the dishwasher (check individual products to see if they are dishwasher safe first) or wash them up at the same time you wash your own dishes it doesn't need to be an added task.

"You need lots of freezer space for Raw Frozen"

The size of freezer space you need depends on how many dogs you have and their sizes, but we have plenty of options for you if you have limited freezer space!

You can order your food online and it comes in packs of 16, 24 or 32 so you don't have to completely fill your freezer, or you can even find your closest Wilsons Pet Food stockist and pick up raw individually.

If you're worried about having to continually reorder, we have a subscription option on our website where we automatically place an order for you every 2, 4 or 6 weeks.

Our raw frozen food comes in a flat tray with a resealable lid, so it's also easy to store and stack in your fridge/freezer!

"It's difficult to take travelling"

Yes, raw can sometimes be inconvenient when going on holiday or travelling but there are ways to make it work for you.

If you're a raw feeder, it's always best to call ahead or check your accommodation details to see if there is a freezer available where you're staying.

However, if you're travelling a long distance, or camping, we have the perfect solution for you!

Our Cold Pressed is the perfect alternative to our Raw Frozen - it's a dry dog food which is cooked at much lower temperatures compared to traditional kibble, helping it to break down at the same rate as raw food. You can even feed it in the same bowl!
