Vycki and Vinnie prepare for Crufts 2020
Recently we had the pleasure of meeting Vycki Brock and her German Spitz, Vinnie who were thrilled to have recently been selected for the Scottish Rally Obedience Team for Crufts 2020 and are also big fans of Wilsons Pet Food Cold Pressed dog food!
Vycki tells us more about what it's like training for such an huge event like Crufts, and why she opts to feed Vinnie Cold Pressed when she's out and about competing...
"German Spitz are a very enthusiastic, bright breed and Vinnie is no exception. By age 3, Vinnie had won into Grade 7 Championship level in Agility, won 2 CC’s in breed showing and most recently was selected on the Rally Obedience Team Scotland Crufts 2020 team.
Rally Obedience is a fun sport where the dog and handler teams navigate a course of exercises. There are six levels of difficulty and the course exercises will vary - they can feature up to 18 challenges including recalls, cone weaves and heel work. The Crufts Inter-regional Rally Competition features 7 teams - Team Scotland will compete against teams from England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Vinnie will also be competing in the Crufts German Spitz breed show ring.
Being the World’s largest dog show, Crufts is a very busy environment which can be challenging for dogs. So in the run up to the big event - Vinnie has been practising his moves in as many different places we can think of, from the train station, to Dobbies garden centre and busy city streets.
I’m not a professional trainer, just an average dog Mum who likes to spend every moment with my dogs. Vinnie loves to learn - we practice fun based reward training and have a great time together.
You can imagine his health, condition, energy and well-being is paramount to me and I’m very fussy about the food and treats he gets.
Vinnie is on a complete raw diet and when we travel to shows throughout the year in the caravan - raw food has its challenges. Last year, a friend told me about Wilsons' Cold Pressed food, and when I looked further into it, I discovered that the extrusion process means cold pressed has a much higher nutritional value than regular kibble.
I got a bag and was very impressed - Vinnie enjoyed it and it ticked all my boxes for a high quality food, Wilsons was the solution I was looking for.

We will be at Crufts for a couple of days staying in a hotel and we’ll be sure to have our Wilson’s food with us - I have every confidence it will give Vinnie the energy he needs."
